GREETINGS

Director's Message

Hello. I am Inwon Kang, Director of the Institute of Global Trade & Finance. On behalf of the Institute, I extend my sincere gratitude to everyone visiting the website of the Institute of Global Trade & Finance at Kyung Hee University.

Today's global economy and international order face an unprecedented period of complex and dynamic transition — driven by the restructuring of global supply chains, shifts in international financial order, the acceleration of digital transformation, the spread of economic security and ESG norms, and the growing importance of international development cooperation. Trade and finance now transcend the boundaries of individual disciplines, intersecting closely with politics, diplomacy, industry, technology, education, and public policy, and emerging as core agendas of our time that demand new knowledge production and practical responses.

The Institute of Global Trade & Finance responds proactively to this transition, firmly establishing itself as an international academic platform leading research in global trade, finance, and policy. As a research institute affiliated with Kyung Hee University, we faithfully fulfill our academic responsibility and social role through scholarly research, the operation of an international journal, education programs, international exchange, and engagement with policy and industry.

In particular, the Institute centers its research and education on three core directions:

CORE DIRECTIONS

Three Core Directions

01

Building a Global Research Network

Through multilayered cooperation with overseas universities, research institutions, international organizations, public agencies, and industry, the Institute builds an open international exchange platform that crosses boundaries. Through conferences, seminars, colloquia, joint research, and policy-linked projects, we form an intellectual community where domestic and international researchers and experts create and share knowledge together — continuously expanding the horizon of international cooperation so that our research resonates deeply within the global scholarly community.

02

Operating the international journal ITPD

Our international journal ITPD (International Trade, Politics and Development) is a specialized academic journal that explores today's most pressing global issues — including global trade, political economy, finance, development cooperation, ESG, and digital trade. As an open forum where domestic and international researchers share and critically engage with their work, ITPD continues to deepen its visibility and scholarly impact through a stable publication system and an international academic network. Its core mission is to lay the foundation for trade, finance, and political economy research from Korea and Asia to find a distinctive voice within the global scholarly ecosystem.

03

K-Content / Education ODA / AI / Digital Trade Education

Research realizes its full value only when it extends beyond academia into education and practice. The Institute develops educational content that organically integrates academic rigor with field practice, focusing on key agendas such as Official Development Assistance (ODA), K-Content, digital trade, ESG, and global industrial strategy. Serving as a bridge between the university's research and educational capacity and domestic and international demand, we contribute to nurturing interdisciplinary talent capable of responding to a complex and uncertain global environment, and to the social diffusion of knowledge.

The Institute of Global Trade & Finance will continue its convergent research and practice connecting trade and finance with politics, economy, industry, education, and international cooperation amid a rapidly changing global order. Through a world-class international journal, advanced education programs, and expanded international exchange, we will elevate our academic standing as a university-affiliated research institute and continuously evolve as an international academic platform where researchers, students, and policy and industry stakeholders grow together.

We sincerely ask for your continued interest and support.

Thank you.

Inwon Kang
